our sacred space…

Growing up, all of our vacations were spent in the Texas Hill Country with our grandmothers.  Llano is touted as the land of legend and lore.  For us, it is our escape and the place we call home... even though we live in the hustle and bustle of the Dallas Metroplex.  Llano is our retreat where we revive and restore our hearts and souls.

I love the outdoors, but prefer to see it through walls of windows so many of my favorite memories of the ranch involve the adventures of my grandmother, brother and dad.  I loved when they would return with arrowheads. My grandmother, Ann, had a dream of being a geologist.  She knew every type of rock on the property and would often find flint and arrowheads for us and point them out with her toes. Times have changed!  Grandmom's family threatened to disown her if she studied geology. She got a home economics degree from the University of Texas.  She hung it over the ironing board and proclaimed that she would never use either one! She lived on the land until her death and loved every creature who shared her space.

It is so amazing that the land that has been in our family since 1836 was shared with Comanche Indians until 1874.

I created an arrowhead just a few years into making jewelry.  I didn't realize how much the collection would come to mean to me and to some of the women I love. The first recipient of the Original arrowhead pendant had just suffered an unfathomable loss.  The night that it happened, I sat with her while she cried.  Even when she was shattered, I saw the strength of a warrior within her.

While creating the collection, I have incorporated several of my dad's treasures that he collected as well as a few that came from the father of my dear friend, LuAnn Tarango.

Life is beautiful... it is sometimes hard... but together we are BRAVE.
